Hotchkiss And Associates Landscape Contracting is seeking an experienced and reliable Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader to lead and work alongside a residential maintenance crew.
Our Crew Leaders are responsible for the day-to-day quality, efficiency, and professionalism of their assigned properties. This position is ideal for an experienced landscape professional who takes pride in high-quality work, understands proper horticultural practices, and is comfortable leading and developing a crew.
Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside a crew of 2–4 team members on daily maintenance routes.
- Provide clear direction to crew members and hold the team accountable for quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Perform and oversee pruning, mowing, edging, weeding, blowing, plant care, and other landscape maintenance tasks.
- Ensure properties are maintained to Hotchkiss And Associates' quality standards.
- Identify irrigation problems, plant-health concerns, and other property issues before they become larger problems.
- Perform basic irrigation troubleshooting and repairs.
- Drive company vehicles and transport crew members safely between job sites.
- Communicate daily with the Maintenance Manager regarding property conditions, completed work, problems, and materials needed.
- Train and mentor crew members in proper landscape maintenance, horticultural practices, equipment use, and safety.
- Maintain company tools and equipment and report needed repairs.
- Complete required daily maintenance records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional truck and work environment.
- Represent the company professionally when working at clients' homes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional landscape maintenance experience.
- Previous crew leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred.
- Valid California driver's license and clean DMV record.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Strong plant identification and horticultural knowledge.
- Knowledge of proper pruning and planting techniques.
- Ability to identify common irrigation problems and perform basic repairs.
- Experience with low-voltage landscape lighting preferred.
- Ability to lead a team, give clear direction, and hold crew members accountable.
- Ability to receive direction from management and execute work to a high standard.
- Strong communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work, including lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.
- Must report to work clean, well-groomed, and in company uniform.

Compensation
$25.00+ per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability.
Higher compensation within the range is intended for Crew Leaders who can independently manage their crew and properties, demonstrate strong horticultural and irrigation knowledge, train other employees, and consistently maintain our quality standards.
