Overview
We are looking for a salmon scaler, this job is very demanding on the labor. You will be using an electric scaling machine and can be very straining to your arm and hand so will have to be used to doing labor work.
Responsibilities
- Use manual tools and mechanical equipment to remove scales from fresh salmon efficiently and thoroughly.
- Follow established food safety protocols, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), to maintain product integrity.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and other machinery safely for moving fish and supplies within the production area.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, adhering to sanitation standards and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks, including trimming, filleting, or packaging as needed under supervision.
- Conduct routine mechanical troubleshooting on scaling machines and other equipment to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
- Handle heavy lifting safely, utilizing proper manual handling techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food production, kitchen work, or manufacturing environments is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of food safety management practices, including HACCP, GMP, and sanitation procedures.
- Mechanical knowledge or experience operating machinery such as scaling or processing equipment is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements, weights, or inventory tracking accurately.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment operation like forklifts or similar machinery is advantageous; certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety standards in production environments with a commitment to following safety protocols diligently.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform heavy lifting, and perform manual handling tasks safely throughout shifts.

Pay: $18.50 - $19.00 per hour
