Western New York Maritime Charter School is a military-style public charter school built on structure, accountability, and leadership development. Our classrooms are predictable, disciplined, and focused on execution.
We are not looking for someone who "likes math" and hopes students will engage.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Runs a tight, structured classroom every period
- Can manage behavior consistently without escalation
- Holds students accountable for showing work, thinking, and completing tasks
- Is comfortable addressing issues immediately, not later
- Understands that math success requires discipline, repetition, and clarity
- Thrives in a high-expectation, no-excuses environment
If your classroom tends to become inconsistent, off-task, or dependent on student motivation, this is not the right fit.
- New York State Certification, Math 7-12
- NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
- Strong working knowledge of NYS Math Standards and Regents expectations
- Deliver clear, structured, standards-aligned math instruction
- Build classrooms with consistent routines and procedures that maximize learning time
- Ensure students:
- Show all work
- Practice consistently
- Stay engaged and accountable
- Maintain a classroom where:
- Disruptions are addressed immediately
- Expectations are visible and enforced
- Instructional time is protected
- Use data, assessments, and diagnostics to identify gaps and adjust instruction
- Drive student progress toward Regents proficiency and mastery
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress
- Contribute to a schoolwide culture of discipline, focus, and urgency
- You are prepared and on time, every day
- You follow schoolwide systems and expectations with fidelity
- You do not ignore low-level disruption
- You hold students accountable for both behavior and academic output
- You maintain professionalism at all times
- Your classroom runs on systems, not personality
- Students are consistently engaged and completing work
- Academic data shows measurable growth and Regents readiness
- Transitions are efficient, instruction is uninterrupted
- You are aligned with the school's mission and expectations
- Composed under pressure; responds with solutions, not excuses
