About the Role
We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations at our Montclair office. Reporting directly to the HR Manager based at our Seattle headquarters, this role will support our California team across recruiting, onboarding, people operations, performance management, leave and compliance, and offboarding.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an early-career HR professional or recent graduate who enjoys working with people, learns quickly, and wants to build a strong foundation across multiple areas of HR.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting & Hiring
- Draft and update job descriptions based on hiring managers' business needs and role requirements.
- Post and maintain job openings across Indeed, LinkedIn, Rippling, and other recruiting platforms.
- Screen resumes, conduct initial phone interviews, coordinate interviews, and maintain timely candidate communication.
- Maintain applicant tracking records and recruiting status updates.
- Prepare offer letters and coordinate pre-employment and new-hire documentation.
Onboarding & People Operations
- Coordinate new hire onboarding and help ensure a smooth employee experience from day one.
- Partner with managers and IT on equipment, email, system access, and other onboarding needs.
- Maintain accurate employee records and process employee changes in Rippling and other HR systems.
- Support employees and managers with PTO, attendance, timecards, and routine HR questions.
- Serve as an approachable onsite HR resource for employees at the Montclair office.
- Support HR reporting and help improve HR processes and employee experience.
Performance Management
- Coordinate probationary reviews and track completion with managers.
- Support the annual performance review process, including timelines, reminders, documentation, and system updates.
- Assist the HR Manager with performance-related documentation and follow-up.
Leave, Benefits & Compliance
- Support employee leave and benefits administration, including sick leave, pregnancy-related leave, medical leave, and other applicable California leave programs.
- Assist employees and managers with routine leave and benefits questions and escalate complex matters to the HR Manager.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and support required HR notices and documentation.
- Assist the HR Manager in maintaining HR practices consistent with California and federal employment requirements.
Offboarding
- Coordinate employee resignations and terminations under the direction of the HR Manager.
- Prepare offboarding documentation and coordinate with Finance, IT, and managers regarding final payroll information, benefits, system access, and company property.
- Help ensure a professional, respectful, and organized offboarding experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- HR internship or up to 2 years of experience in HR, recruiting, People Operations, office operations, or another people-focused role.
- People-oriented, approachable, and genuinely interested in supporting employees.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers.
- Quick learner who is curious and able to pick up new HR processes, systems, and employment practices.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive and responsible, with good judgment about when to take ownership, ask questions, or escalate an issue.
- Able to handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comfortable working onsite at our Montclair office full-time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to recruiting, onboarding, HR administration, or employee support.
- Familiarity with California employment practices or HR compliance.
- Experience with Rippling, ADP, Indeed, LinkedIn, DocuSign, or similar HR and recruiting tools.
- Bilingual English/Mandarin is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $60,000–$68,000 per year, depending on experience
- Overtime eligibility in accordance with applicable California law
