Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Laboratory Technician II to support engineering and failure analysis activities in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with advanced materials characterization and failure analysis techniques, strong documentation skills, and the ability to effectively communicate technical findings to engineering teams.
This position requires close collaboration with yield engineers, laboratory analysts, and cross-functional teams to perform sample preparation, material analysis, and reporting while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing, sample preparation, and engineering analysis on semiconductor or electronic components.
- Utilize advanced failure analysis and characterization techniques, including:
- Cross-sectioning (X-Section)
- Delayering
- Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
- Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX)
- X-Ray Inspection
- Optical Inspection
- Ion Milling
- Focused Ion Beam (FIB)
- Prepare samples and operate laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
- Document test results and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Present findings and communicate analysis results to yield engineers, laboratory analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, documentation, and presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support ongoing projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adapt to changing priorities and perform effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced technical environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate Degree in a technical discipline such as:
- Electronics
- Mechanical Technology
- Electrical Technology
- Engineering Technology
- Or a closely related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in an engineering or technical laboratory environment.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- SEM
- EDX
- X-Section
- Delayering
- X-Ray Inspection
- Optical Inspection
- Ion Milling
- Focused Ion Beam (FIB)
- Experience preparing technical documentation and laboratory reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working in an environment with changing priorities and multiple projects.
