Summary
As a CDL Truck Driver specializing in lumber and building materials delivery, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods to various locations while ensuring timely and efficient service. Your core skills in truck driving and commercial driving will be essential, along with your experience in operating flatbed trucks and utilizing GPS for navigation. The role requires a strong focus on load and unload procedures, as well as adherence to safety regulations. Driver will be delivering to job sites so it is important to be personable, friendly, and courteous at all times. Training is provided. Responsibilities
- Transport lumber and building materials from store location to customer job sites (i.e. construction sites)
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues
- Follow given delivery routes and meet schedules in a timely fashion
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Report defects, accidents or violations
- Load and unload materials by hand or use of power equipment
- Boom truck operation
Skills
- Proven work experience as a truck driver - a plus but not required
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS)
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
- Valid CDL license
- Up to date D.O.T medical card
- Drivers who have handled building materials a plus
- Current Hoisting license a must
