At Brave Bean, our mission is to bring “real coffee” to our community. To us, real coffee is more than just fuel or high quality taste (though the importance of those aspects cannot be understated), but an experience. It is a connector, and has the ability to take us back to our first tastes surrounded by loved ones, or even in some special cases to the countries of origin where the beans were grown and harvested with the care and intentionality that we seek to honor with every bean roasted and every cup brewed.
Since our beginnings at our Pitcairn location, we have taken pride in our commitment to quality and our community-centric environment. We are looking for passionate baristas to help us grow in our Pitcairn location and in our newest cafe located in the North Shore.
Full- and Part-Time Available
$14-$18/hr, plus tips

Essential Functions:
- Provide services at either cafe (Pitcairn or North Shore) weekly
- Greet customers in a friendly manner
- Answer questions about products and make recommendations
- Handle cash and credit transactions at register using the POS
- Prioritize responsibilities and workflow
- Handle packaged food for customers
- Prepare coffee, tea, and espresso drinks
- Sell and be knowledgeable on whole beans (roasted by Brave Bean in Pitcairn!)
- Uphold cleanliness, quality, and customer service standards as outlined in SOPs and training
- This position requires stocking, cleaning, and monitoring a restroom for the cafe
- Promote a safe and respectful working environment
- The duties are diverse and susceptible to change, but boils down to being curious, knowledgeable, and kind
- Display confidence and seek to constantly improve your skills in all aspects of daily coffee shop operations
- Stay up-to-date with all menu offerings and taste Brave Bean offerings daily to ensure quality and to develop tasting skills
- Take pride in the condition of your workspace
- Frequently move coffee/food/merch in bins weighing up to 20lbs
Qualifications:
- Experience in food and beverage highly recommended (coffee preferred)
- Share our passion for coffee, hospitality, and our Pittsburgh community
