HVAC/R Technician Helper – Industrial Refrigeration

Pettit Staffing is currently recruiting for an HVAC/R Technician – Industrial Refrigeration Helper for a food manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude, HVAC, refrigeration, maintenance, or industrial experience looking to build a long-term career in industrial refrigeration and boiler systems.
In this role, you will safely assist with maintaining industrial refrigeration and boiler systems to support production operations and maintain safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with starting and shutting down compressors under supervision
- Help troubleshoot basic refrigeration and boiler system issues
- Follow daily preventive maintenance schedules
- Clean, inspect, and service system components
- Support maintenance and safety documentation
- Assist with compliance related to PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Program) procedures
- Work alongside experienced technicians to learn industrial refrigeration operations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, maintenance, or cooling systems preferred
- No advanced certifications required — training provided for the right candidate
- Willingness to learn industrial refrigeration and boiler systems
- Basic computer skills and everyday math skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work with hands throughout the shift
- Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance
- Comfortable working in loud manufacturing environments and varying temperatures, including cold and heat
