Andrew Spiewak Land Surveyor is seeking a skilled Land Survey CAD Technician to support our growing pipeline of boundary, topographic, and construction staking projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands surveying workflows, and can produce professional-grade survey drawings with minimal supervision.
We are looking for a detail-driven and experienced Land Survey CAD Technician to assist in the preparation of:
- Boundary and ALTA/NSPS survey plats
- Topographic and existing conditions maps
- Construction staking and layout plans
- Plat of Subdivision, Condominium Plats, easement exhibits, and other legal survey documentation
The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of hands-on CAD drafting experience in a land surveying environment and strong proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Carlson Survey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and prepare survey plats, topographic maps, and construction layout drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Carlson Survey
- Process and manage field data from GPS and total station crews
- Interpret and apply deeds, subdivision plats, legal descriptions, and field notes to ensure accurate survey representation
- Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, project managers, and field teams to deliver high-quality, client-ready survey drawings
- Perform quality control checks for accuracy, completeness, regulatory compliance, and drafting standards
- Support boundary analysis, easement documentation, in plat of survey preparation
- Maintain organized project files and ensure data integrity across multiple jobs
- Stay current with evolving surveying standards, CAD workflows, and GIS integration practices
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of CAD drafting experience specifically in land surveying or civil surveying projects
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson Survey
- Solid understanding of: boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS standards, construction staking workflows, and coordinate geometry (COGO)
- Experience processing survey field data (GPS / total station)
- Familiarity with survey plats, legal descriptions, and construction staking workflows
- Associate’s degree in Surveying, Drafting, or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent professional experience (preferred)
- Highly accurate and detail-oriented
- Able to manage multiple projects under deadlines
- Strong communicators and reliable team contributors
- Comfortable working independently and proactively solving drafting challenges
