Position Description
The driver is responsible for ensuring timely donation pickup routes, loading and unloading trucks and providing exceptional customer service to our donors and partner agencies.
Essential Duties
- Must have experience driving a 16 ft. box truck, or larger.
- Must have experience in processing pallets in and out of truck, shelving, etc.
- Assist other employees in the warehouse, taking donations, assisting agencies and donors.
- Responsible for making sure vehicle has been fueled, fluids are checked, and inspected before departure time.
- Operate all Caritas vehicles at all times in a safe manner, complying with all laws and Caritas policies.
- Visually inspect vehicle on a daily basis for any needed repairs or maintenance and communicate needs immediately to the warehouse director.
- Communicate with supervisor about any problems that may arise including delays in pick-ups or deliveries, donor concerns or incidents involving Caritas vehicles or personnel as these relate or interfere with safe or efficient fulfillment of driver duties.
- Complete all recordkeeping, documentation, and paperwork as required in a timely and neat manner.
- Responsible for providing respectful, courteous service, interact with and respond to Caritas employees and guests in a professional, helpful manner.
- Represent Caritas in a professional manner at all times.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Valid Driver’s License
- No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) accident within the last three (3) years.
- Proven ability to communicate articulately and perform simple arithmetic
Minimum experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, squat, turn body, and walk
- Lift and move cases ranging in weight up to 60 lbs. to and from heights ranging from floor to knee, waist.
- Handle and feel objects and/or equipment controls; reach with hands and arms
- Must have the ability to talk and hear; must be able to hear warning horns on moving machinery and equipment.
- Exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform position
- Must be able to climb on and off the box of the truck
Work Schedule
20 to 35 hour work week, in warehouse setting.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
