Overview
The Traveling Service and Inspection Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial roofing systems across the continental United States. This role requires advanced leak detection skills, hands-on repair expertise across multiple commercial roofing systems, and the ability to travel extensively. The technician serves as a frontline representative of the company, ensuring timely, high-quality service and clear communication with customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities Leak Detection & Repair
- Accurately diagnose roof leaks using visual inspections, electronic leak detection, infrared scanning, flood testing, and other industry-approved methods
- Perform permanent and temporary repairs on a variety of commercial roofing systems, including but not limited to:
- Shingle and Tile systems (70% Commercial Sloped)
- TPO, PVC, EPDM
- Modified bitumen
- Built-up roofing (BUR)
- Metal roofing systems
- Identify root causes of leaks and document findings clearly with photos and written reports
- Recommend repair solutions or replacement options when necessary
Travel & Field Work
- Travel extensively to job sites across the lower 48 states (air and ground travel required)
- Work independently in varied climates, environments, and roof conditions
- Maintain readiness for short-notice deployments for emergency leak calls
Customer & Team Coordination
- Communicate professionally with building owners, property managers, and facility teams on-site
- Coordinate with internal service managers and project teams regarding scope, findings, and repair recommendations
- Represent the company positively while on-site and during travel
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements
- Properly use fall protection systems, ladders, lifts, and safety equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete service reports, inspection documentation, and repair summaries accurately and on time
- Upload photos, notes, and findings into company systems as required
- Track materials, labor, and time spent on service calls
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of commercial roofing experience (service-focused preferred)
- Proven ability to detect and repair roof leaks across multiple commercial roofing systems (mandatory)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the lower 48 states
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Roofing certifications (manufacturer certifications a plus)
- Experience with electronic or infrared leak detection systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, access rooftops, and work at heights
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
