The ideal candidate is nurturing, reliable, and committed to whole-child development.
This role aligns with WSTEM’s five instructional pillars: Multi-Age Instruction, Interdisciplinary Learning, Science & Engineering Integration, Authentic Learning Experiences, and Collaboration & Community
A. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Support Learning Continuity
- Reinforce skills introduced during the 4K instructional day through play-based and hands-on activities.
- Provide learning centers that promote early literacy, numeracy, and STEM exploration.
- Support social-emotional skill development, including sharing, cooperation, and self-regulation.
- Collaborate with the 4K Teacher to ensure alignment of routines, expectations, and learning goals.
- Maintain consistent behavioral and developmental supports.
b. Provide Safe & Engaging Wraparound Care
- Supervise students before and/or after the ½-day 4K instructional block.
- Plan age-appropriate activities including art, sensory play, movement, outdoor exploration, and quiet rest time.
- Establish predictable routines that foster independence and security.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment at all times.
- Monitor student health, safety, and well-being.
c. Promote Whole-Child Development
- Foster positive peer relationships and conflict resolution skills.
- Model respectful communication and problem-solving strategies.
- Encourage independence in daily routines such as snack, transitions, and clean-up.
- Support students with diverse needs, including IEPs or developmental differences, as applicable.
d. Family Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with families.
- Communicate daily highlights and important information as needed.
- Support family engagement efforts consistent with WSTEM’s mission and culture.
- Work collaboratively with the 4K Teacher and school staff to support student success.
e. Compliance & Professional Responsibilities
- Follow all state licensing regulations and school policies for childcare programs.
- Maintain accurate attendance and supervision records.
- Participate in required professional development and training.
- Support continuous improvement efforts aligned with charter school goals.
B. QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Experience working with preschool or 4K-aged children.
- Understanding of child development and play-based learning.
- Ability to manage routines and supervise young children in group settings.

- Familiarity with early STEM or inquiry-based learning environments.
