American Traveler seeks an NBSTSA-certified Surgical Technologist with cardiovascular experience for a hospital CVOR unit position in South Carolina.

Work in a hospital CVOR unit averaging 6 cases per day
-
Cardiovascular patient population requiring open heart and vascular surgeries
-
Day shift schedule, 06:00–14:30

Weekday hours with weekend call requirements

13-week contract

Minimum of 1 year of surgical technology experience

Hospital CVOR experience required, with confidence performing open heart and vascular cases
-
NBSTSA certification required — this is the only surgical tech certification recognized in South Carolina
-
BLS certification from the American Heart Association
-
License required if applicable
-
Work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures

Ensure OR rooms, supplies, and equipment are available and prepared to support efficient perioperative processes
-
Maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment necessary for each surgical procedure

Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping according to department and hospital standards
-
Establish and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure
-
Perform initial and additional instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator
-
Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure
-
Prepare and pass off specimens as appropriate
-
Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning patients using proper body mechanics
-
Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and assist with terminal cleaning of the OR
-
Use standard precautions and appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances, including blood and body fluids
-
Demonstrate competency in emergency management, infection control, environment safety, communication, and perioperative patient care
