Position Summary
The Sorting Manager oversees all Sorting operations to ensure timely pickup, processing, and dispatch of mail. This role focuses on managing personnel, logistics, running equipment, and workflow to maintain efficient and compliant operations - not performing all tasks individually. This position also manages warehouse organization.
Abilities
Administrative
· Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excell proficiency
· Organization – ability to manage workflow and schedule staff
· Basic Math
Physical
· Regularly lift 40lb+ mail trays and Push 100lb+ cages
· On feet long durations – standing, walking, lifting
· Drivers License. Able to drive Company Delivery Vehicles, Car, Van and 26’ Box Truck (no special license required) Driving in dark, rain, snow.
Responsibilities
Operations Management
· Ensure daily pickup of local southern-route mail for same day processing
· Process Mail
o Assign operators to roles; rotate team members. (There should never be a “only he/she knows how to do that” situation)
· Coordinate nightly delivery of processed mail to the Hampden USPS P&DC
· Cleanliness of workspace – daily cleaning stations. Deep clean monthly
Staff Supervision
· Supervise and support the mail sorting team
· Manage staff schedule
o coverage for high-volume periods (e.g., month-end processing, weekends, extra shifts if needed)
o Maintain list of backup drivers (Provided by Company).)
· Crosstrain staff on Sorter operation, meters, and general dept. tasks
· Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and ongoing support of employees
· Serve as the primary point of contact for department-related questions
Equipment & Process Oversight
· Oversee operation and maintenance of sorter. Operations include:
o Startup & Nightly close-out
o Daily maintenance & Basic repairs
· Ensure accurate submission of required USPS electronic documentation
· Acquire Working knowledge of mail schemes to optimize postal discounts
· Manage use of postage meters and related systems
· Manage use of MyShippingPost and related reports
Fleet Oversight
· Track & schedule preventative maintenance for company vehicles:
o Monitor oil changes; seasonal tire changes
o Track engine hours for 26’ truck
o Keep vehicles clean inside and out
· Monitor annual vehicle registrations
Warehouse
· Manage warehouse organization
o Stow received product each morning
o Retrieve product from inventory as needed
o Keep aisles clear safe
o notify dept leads of low inventory levels
· Recycle stock scheduled for disposal
· Coordinate cardboard and recycled paper pickup
· Coordinate excess wood pallet disposal
· Maintain sufficient levels of USPS supplies (HPU’s, pallets silos, cages, tags, sleeves, label, holders, etc.)
· Delegate daily cleaning stations & weekly floor cleaning and maintain accountability
· Gold Locker – monthly order of facilities supplies. Restock as needed
· Local deliveries Tuesday and Thursday morning

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
