Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of deli foods, including slicing meats and cheeses, preparing salads and specialty items, maintaining product quality, following food safety procedures, and ensuring efficient customer service.
- Serve customers with enthusiasm, providing excellent customer service and product recommendations.
- Operate POS systems to process transactions accurately while handling cash, credit cards, and food orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area by regularly cleaning counters, utensils, and food preparation surfaces in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Manage inventory levels by restocking deli products and monitoring expiration dates to ensure freshness and quality.
- Assist with food handling procedures, including proper storage, labeling, and rotation of perishable items to uphold health standards.
- Support overall store operations by bussing counters as needed and ensuring the deli area remains organized and inviting.
- Ability to work weekends.
Skills
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse clientele.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and managing inventory levels.
- Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling techniques, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with culinary tasks such as slicing meats or cheeses and preparing salads is highly desirable.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely service during busy periods.
