ECC Corrosion, Inc., an established and growing composites manufacturer, is seeking a Production Manager with strong organizational and communication skills to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have experience in managing, training and setting expectations for production employees, organizing work-flow and creating daily work orders, and improving overall productivity. Must also be willing to learn or improve on knowledge of composites manufacturing. Spanish language skills a plus.
POSITION SUMMARY
Manages production and supervises employees in a custom manufacturing and assembly environment: plans and assigns work, monitors and evaluates employee performance, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Priorities include (i) safety and employee relations, (ii) quality, productivity and cost improvement, (iii) scheduling production to meet customer commitments, and (iv) setting and communicating performance expectations/goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Reviews daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignments for each shift, including specific work station assignments and training.
- Supervises and directs personnel on shift in performing operations in accordance with work and personnel assignments, production goals and objectives, safe and sound operating principles and company policies and procedures.
- Ensures finished goods are produced in accordance with product specifications and applicable quality control standards.
- Coordinates production startups, shutdowns and changeovers.
- Schedules and conducts shift meetings and promotes a safe and productive work environment.
- Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain department and company objectives and goals.
- Works with department leads and other managers to improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity and cost) and increase production employees' skills and capabilities.
- Coaches employees on proper production techniques and assists with employee training and development.
- Anticipates and determines causes of delays in operations and takes appropriate action to meet production and shipping schedules.
- Reports promptly to project management department and other managers when delays occur, estimates time of delay and when operations will be resumed.
- Studies operations where cost and quality standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective measures.
- Conducts probationary, periodic and annual performance profile of each department employee and recommends performance increases, retraining, transfer or termination.
- Ensures effective employee relations and applies company policies in all dealings with employees.
- Maintains good housekeeping in the facility, strives for continuous improvement and ensures that equipment is properly utilized and maintained.
- Assists with safety audits, performs accident and near miss investigations and works with safety department to implement corrective measures.
- Assists with periodic physical inventories of raw materials, supplies and finished goods.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of five years of managerial or supervisory experience in the custom manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in corrosion resistant or other thermoset fiberglass reinforced product manufacturing. Has experience with and has effectively implemented continuous improvement, lean, six sigma and/or other good manufacturing processes.
Skills and Abilities: Able to rely on experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish duties and goals; able to perform a variety of complex tasks; able to lead and direct the work of others; able to use a variety of power and hand tools and equipment; able to read, analyze, and interpret detailed specifications, blueprints and schematic drawings; able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees; must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills; able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs; able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; must have knowledge of word processing, power point and spreadsheet software. Must have or be willing to obtain expertise in thermoset fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing.

Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends or holidays from time to time depending on business demands required.
