Principal – Tax (Partner Track)

Our client is a well-established public accounting firm with a strong reputation throughout Wisconsin and a growing middle-market client base. As part of the firm's continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Tax Principal to join the leadership team with a defined path toward Partnership.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished tax leader who enjoys serving as a trusted advisor to privately held businesses while mentoring the next generation of professionals. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong client relationship skills, and the desire to help shape the future direction of a growing practice.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the lead advisor for a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
- Review complex federal and state tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and individuals.
- Provide proactive tax planning and strategic business advisory services throughout the year.
- Build long-term relationships with business owners, executives, and key stakeholders.
- Mentor, coach, and develop managers, senior associates, and staff.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and support firm growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on practice strategy, talent development, and operational improvements.
- Participate in business development activities and community networking.
- Help drive the firm's long-term vision as a future Partner.
What We're Looking For
- CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
- Experience managing complex tax engagements and reviewing returns.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Leadership experience managing teams and mentoring professionals.
- Strong communication and business development skills.
- Experience working with privately held companies across a variety of industries preferred.
- Interest in pursuing Partnership within the next 1–2 years.
