THE POSITION
As the Medical Records Supervisor for the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene, you step into a leadership role that keeps vital health information moving with accuracy and purpose. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position ensures that inmate medical records are accurately maintained and consistently reviewed to support health care operations. It contributes to reliable documentation and supports the overall functioning of the medical unit. As a Medical Records Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Guide and review the work of subordinate staff to ensure accurate and timely tasks
- Record Management: Maintain and monitor integrated health records while ensuring compliance with documentation standards
- Record Processing: Handle filing, issuing, and transferring of records and provide documentation for legal or facility needs
- Record Review: Check medical records for completeness and accuracy and direct corrections to appropriate health staff
- Report Preparation: Compile periodic statistical reports that support reviews of medical activity and outcomes
- Quality Assurance: Evaluate medical record maintenance practices and identify opportunities for improvement

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
Post Employment Requirement:
- Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
