Position Overview
An acute care hospital is seeking an RN Director of Surgical Services to provide multi-unit clinical leadership and 24/7 operational oversight for the Operating Room (OR) and Cardiovascular Services.
Reporting directly to senior nursing leadership, this role is responsible for strategic planning, resource management, staff competency, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Assume 24/7 accountability for assigned multi-unit clinical areas, ensuring appropriate resource management and regulatory compliance.
- Clinical Governance: Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practices to maintain high standards of patient safety and care.
- Staff Development: Ensure clinical staff competency, serving as a mentor, role model, and advocate for the nursing profession.
- Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership to align nursing functions with broader organizational goals.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience
Required:
- Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) combined with a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, OR a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive hospital management experience at the Manager or Director level.
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (BSN/MSN).
Licensure & Certifications
Required at Hire:
- Active, current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or residence.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Required Within 3 Months of Hire:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
