POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer to join our global support organization. This senior-level role is designed for a seasoned professional who can independently manage complex installations, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a technical escalation point for our most challenging customer environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in industrial electronics and a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced field environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Zumbach systems at customer sites across the US, Canada, and international locations as needed.
- Serve as a senior technical resource and escalation point for complex system issues beyond the scope of field service engineers.
- Integrate Zumbach equipment with customer control systems, PLCs, SCADA platforms, and data acquisition networks.
- Deliver advanced customer training on equipment operation, maintenance, and software; develop training materials and documentation.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level field service engineers.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to communicate field findings, support product improvements, and refine technical documentation.
- Manage multiple concurrent service assignments with minimal supervision, ensuring quality and on-time completion.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Zumbach product lines, industry standards, and emerging measurement technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- 5+ years of experience in field service engineering within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, including PLCs, drives, and data acquisition platforms.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve advanced system-level issues.
- Strong network and software integration skills (Ethernet, serial protocols, OPC, basic IT networking).
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical content to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience mentoring junior technicians or engineers preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Flexibility for frequent overnight travel throughout the US and Canada; international travel a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field required.
