Apprentice Field Service SUBSTATION Technician Position Description:
A Specialized Engineering Services, Inc.'s Apprentice Field Service Substation Technician assists and also perform independent field services including electrical testing, maintenance, and repair. The Apprentice Field Service Technician must be able to self-manage assigned projects by using knowledge obtained from previous experience and further training by SES Field Staff or training courses.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
●Build onto current skills via opportunities to learn in the field, formal training, and independent study.
●Assist experienced field staff and learn how to perform electrical maintenance and testing of Low/Medium/High Voltage circuit breakers (480V-230kV), testing and repair of transformers(75kVA-300MVA), repair and testing of other Low/Medium/High voltage distribution and circuit protection equipment.
● Preparing for and help conduct various field tests, problem solving, and writing test reports under supervision of Field Service Engineer or Power Systems Engineer.
● Maintaining substation equipment at customer facilities under supervision of Field Engineer
● Assisting in the Installation and servicing of electric systems and or products
● Responding to emergency after hours calls
● Ability to travel overnight and work weekends
Qualifications
● Candidates with knowledge and understanding of substation equipment will be preferred. Equipment includes transformers, gas circuit breakers, power circuit breakers, metal-clad or enclosed switchgear, protective relays, power cables, substation equipment, motor control centers, medium voltage control, excitation equipment, automatic transfer switches, grounding systems, rotating equipment and associated drives
● 2 years applicable experience required
● Proficient at computer software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Adobe X1 Pro
● Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills using various communication systems
● A.S. degree in Engineering Discipline or higher education.

Pay: $20.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 75.0 per week
