Job Summary
Jersey Subs is looking for a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Barista / Counter Server to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality espresso beverages and coffee drinks while also providing exceptional customer service, taking orders, preparing fresh food, and maintaining a clean and welcoming restaurant. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has a positive attitude, and takes pride in delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet every customer with a friendly, welcoming attitude.
- Accurately take customer orders in person and over the phone.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process cash, credit card, and digital payments.
- Prepare fresh sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and other menu items according to company recipes and food safety standards.
- Slice meats, cheeses, and vegetables while maintaining product quality and consistency.
- Restock ingredients, beverages, chips, and other merchandise throughout the shift.
- Maintain clean dining, kitchen, and food preparation areas.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and food preparation equipment.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and stocking.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management of items that need replenishing.
- Work as part of a team to ensure fast, accurate service during busy periods.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and seek management assistance when needed.
- Complete assigned cleaning and side work throughout the shift.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable with excellent attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, reach, stoop, and twist throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in refrigerated food preparation areas and around hot cooking equipment.
