Project Management Opportunity: Project Manager I

We are currently looking for a Project Manager I to join our Project Management team located at our headquarters in Granite City, IL. Our ideal candidate for a Project Manager I is someone with 0-2 years of experience and will provide basic project management support during all phases of mechanical construction to ensure project standards, budget, deadlines and communications are maintained.
Primary responsibilities for icon’s Project Manager I include:
Support jobsite safety compliance by assisting with inspections, coordinating high-risk site activities, ensuring adherence to safety plans and requirements, and collaborating with safety personnel to promote a strong culture of safety.
Review, process, organize, log and distribute Contract Documents (drawings, submittals, specifications, schedules, RFIs, change order log, Construction Bulletins, etc.) and shop drawings/submittals to appropriate team members (e.g. icon project team, subcontractors, fab shop and vendors)
Maintain a working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract.
Coordinate subcontractor activities by defining scopes of work, supporting contract administration and change management, and monitoring project schedules to ensure successful project delivery.
Support field execution of mechanical, plumbing, and specialty system installations through regular site visits, ensuring work was completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, approved submittals, and RFIs.
Assist with preparation and review of fabrication shop work packages and possess a strong understanding of the content including detail drawing review, material take-off and buyout and man-hour fabrication budget.
Support project scheduling and execution by coordinating engineering deliverables, developing mechanical scope schedules, and collaborating with project teams to track progress and meet project milestones.
Coordinate labor, material, and equipment logistics by assisting field leadership with workforce requirements, vendor deliveries, shop and warehouse activities, and site resources to ensure efficient project operations.
Support project financial operations by monitoring job costs, approving invoices, maintaining payables and receivables, coordinating cost updates with vendors and subcontractors, preparing billing schedules, and generating financial reports to support accurate forecasting and positive cash flow.
Develop and maintain a project material matrix in collaboration with Virtual Construction, fabrication, purchasing, and field teams, and help prepare the project startup meeting so scope, document flow, responsibilities, and installation expectations are clearly communicated.
Maintain the RFI process by logging issues and responses, drafting RFIs with appropriate technical support, identifying potential schedule or cost impacts, and posting approved RFIs, ASIs, bulletins, and other changes to the current project documents.
Primary qualifications for icon’s Project Manager I include:
0 - 2 years as a Project Manager in Mechanical Construction.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or proven working experience in Construction Management is required.
Knowledge of HVAC and Piping Systems, building products, construction details/design and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards is preferred.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Viewpoint, ProCore, ACC Build, and BlueBeam
Familiarity with construction management platforms - overall strong computer skills are preferred.
Working knowledge of P6 or Microsoft Project and willingness to learn.
Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
Self-motivated with excellent time and project management skills.
Actively pursues personal and professional growth through continuous learning, feedback, and goal setting.
Ability to work within an environment with deadlines while having to multi-task with changing priorities.
Able to work with groups and utilize the individual strengths, diverse skills, and perspectives of the team members to reach the common end goal.
Demonstrates confidence in their expertise, seeks clarification when needed, and researches unfamiliar issues to develop sound, well-informed solutions.
