Sandwich Maker & Prepared Foods Cook
Gardiner Bakehouse is seeking a Sandwich Maker & Prepared Foods Cook to help craft breakfast egg sandwiches and artisan deli sandwiches on our own house-made breads.
Responsible for preparing and restocking sandwiches for our grab-and-go cases, with limited made-to-order service during busy periods. This is a fast-paced, largely independent role that requires strong time management and the ability to work under pressure. Must be able to work weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble artisan sandwiches on our freshly baked bread.
- Prepare soups, dips, and other grab-and-go items.
- Portion and package items for display in our merchandising fridge.
- Maintain clean and organized prep areas, ensuring food safety and quality.
- Assist with basic ingredient prep (slicing meats, cheeses, and vegetables, mixing spreads, etc.).
- Monitor ingredient stock and communicate needs to the team.
- Follow all sanitation and food handling protocols.
- Help with general kitchen tasks and cleaning as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in food prep, sandwich-making, or a similar role is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to pitch in where needed.
Compensation:
- Base pay starts at $17.50/hour plus pooled tips (avg. of additional $3-$5/hour).
- Full shifts include a half hour paid break, comped sandwich and beverage.
- Employees earn Accrued Paid Time Off.
- 20% discount on all items made in-house.
Pay: From $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 24.0 per week
