Job Overview
Our Residential Treatment Center exclusively provides treatment services for young males with emotional disorders, aged 6-17. Join our dedicated team as a Direct Care Staff member in a Youth Residential Treatment Center and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring personalized support and compassionate care. In this vital role, you will provide assistance with daily living activities, ensure safety and well-being, and foster a warm, respectful environment for youth with diverse needs. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to grow your caregiving skills while positively impacting lives every day.
This will be 12 hour shifts (7-7), 4 days a week, with 8 Hours of OT each week. Schedules are typically 4 days on, 4 days off. Alternating months of weekends off. I am needing 1 NightShift position filled.
Applicants must be able to confidently manage and support boys ages 6-17, in a residential care setting while maintaining firm, consistent boundaries.
Duties
- Assist children with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting.
- Monitor and record health status
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Provide compassionate assistance during meal preparation, feeding, and hydration to promote proper nutrition
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control standards are met
- Prep meals: such as take out meat from freezer to defrost, chop vegetables, gather food items for a meal from pantry
Skills
- Ability to perform first aid and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring personalized support
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and record keeping
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and strong communication abilities
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents when needed; experience with group home settings is a plus
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To contribute the normal development of the children to enable them to reach their fullest potential by providing a stimulating and varied lifestyle.
- To work with clear and consistent boundaries in order to create safety and containment for the children.
- To work alongside the child to help develop a true sense of identity and feel self-worth through direct work.
- To be sensitive to the needs of individual children, considering their race, culture, language and religion.
- To talk and listen to children, and to observe their behavior, and communicate and record significant features.
- To identify signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that children and young people are protected from abuse and use appropriate reporting procedures according to local policies for Safe Guarding Children.
- To be aware of the child’s rights and to work in an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive manner and work in-line with the Equal Opportunities Policy. To physically hold a child, where necessary in accordance with the Company’s Training on Safe Holding.
- To work alongside other direct care staff to provide a comprehensive history of the child’s life history and time within our organization.
- To work effectively alongside other members of the team to ensure that, the child develops in a caring and consistent atmosphere/environment.
- To liaise, where necessary with other professionals i.e. school etc.
- To help the child integrate into mainstream schools and social activities.
- To work alongside the therapist and education and other direct care staff to enable effective integration of care, education and therapy.
- To be responsible for accurate, concise recording of information about the child.
- To assist in the preparation of reviews, meetings and attend when required.
- To act flexibly, with reasonable bounds, in order to ensure the necessary cover for the Home.
- To work as part of the team, supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support as necessary. Inform colleagues of relevant developments, for example during handover.
- To report to the Facility Manager or other appropriate person, malpractice or evidence which may suggest it.
- To take responsibilities for running the household effectively, setting and maintaining a good standard of tidiness and high standards of cleanliness throughout the Home. Share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the Home.
- To care for all equipment/furnishings belonging to the Home or children/young people and care for the fabric and grounds of the Home.
- To ensure that the children have a balanced diet.
- To be accountable for monies allocated for specific purposes.
- To report accidents to the Facility Manager. To report broken and unsafe equipment/furniture to the Person in Charge and enter the item in the repair book. To give a polite, pleasant and professional impression of the Home/Company in greeting visitors and answering the telephone. Ensure messages and information are relayed clearly, accurately and promptly to the relevant person. To maintain a strict policy on every aspect of confidentiality.
- To take part in staff meetings and also in training activities (both in-house and external training) as required. Attend and make use of regular supervision. To keep abreast of good practice in order to continually develop your skills, knowledge and experience, in accordance with your personal development plan.
- To work within all agreed policies and procedures including responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and to promote these within the staff team. To observe and adhere to Company information as outlined in the Company’s Staff Handbook. Such other reasonable duties may be required.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
