Position Summary:
Performs maintenance and custodial duties. In addition, ensures and reinforces facilities safety. Involved in building repairs and equipment repairs at multiple locations. Assists in sanitation control and checks for safety hazards. Works with community service workers and approved vendors.
Essential Functions:
1. Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care, and general cleaning.
2. Operates related to motorized and non-motorized equipment.
3. Records and reports all needed repairs as directed.
4. Conducts facilities safety inspections on a regular basis.
5. Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
6. May set up and take down furniture and other items needed for events.
7. Keeps janitor's room neat and orderly and reports supply orders to assigned staff.
8. Responsible for outdoor landscaping and sprinkler systems repair.
9. Assists in control of sanitation and maintenance for swimming pool including vacuuming and filter care.
10. Assists in checking YMCA for safety hazards and reports any deficiency.
11. Performs air conditioning filter changes.
12. Assists in picking up and loading needed items from one location/site to another.
13. Coordinates with approved vendors to repair and maintain various facilities.
14. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by supervisor.
15. Assists with safety trainings and other related maintenance related trainings.
16. Obtain pool maintenance and driver's certification and other required certifications.
17. Adhere to established accounting procedures, accurately process and track expenditures, and meet all financial reporting requirements and deadlines.
18. Maintain open lines of communication with staff, supervisor and approved vendors.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Preferred at least one year of experience with custodial or janitorial experience.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
4. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
5. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment and facilities.
6. Criminal Clearance, health screening with TB test and Drug test screening.
7. Complete all online training(s).
8. CPR and First Aid preferred.
9. Certified Pool Operator Certification preferred
10. Must meet California and Federal requirements and YMCA Transportation qualifications regarding MVR report and maintain satisfactory driving record.
11. Class C license and MVR report.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate to loud. While in this position the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. Pay: $17.75 - $23.58 per hour
