Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced pre-litigation case manager to oversee personal injury cases from intake through settlement. The ideal candidate will have prior personal injury case management experience, strong organizational skills, and extensive knowledge of UM/UIM claims. This is a fast-paced, client-facing role requiring initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines at once.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Communication: Maintain extensive communication with clients throughout their case; answer questions, including assisting with medical management issues (e.g., treatment scheduling, provider referrals, understanding medical bills).
- Case Intake & Claim Reporting: Open new files, report claims to insurance carriers, and gather initial documentation from clients. Identify all applicable insurance coverage, including liability, UM/UIM, medical payments, and excess/umbrella policies. Obtain and review motor vehicle crash reports to confirm facts, parties, and potential coverage sources.
- Case File Management & Documentation: Maintain organized client files (electronic and hard copy), including medical records, bills, correspondence, insurance documents, lien search results, and settlement materials. Track all case deadlines and statutes of limitation; document all case activity in the case management system.
- Medical Records: Request, track, and obtain medical bills and records from healthcare providers; review and organize medical documentation for attorney review.
- Settlement Demand: Assist attorneys in compiling and organizing information for settlement demands; ensure all outstanding records, bills, and lien information are obtained prior to demand preparation.
- Insurance Communication & Negotiation Support: Communicate with insurance companies to obtain policy information, confirm coverage, verify acceptance of liability, and handle UM/UIM claims. Relay settlement offers and coordinate negotiations with the lead attorney.
- Coordination with Litigation Team: For cases that will or have entered litigation, coordinate and maintain communication with the litigation team to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of case strategy.
- Attorney Support: Identify legal issues for referral to the appropriate attorney; assist with special projects and case-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Prior experience in personal injury case management (pre-litigation)
- Proficiency in UM/UIM claims handling
- Medical records handling experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general computer skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience in high-value or complex personal injury cases
- Familiarity with case management software
