We are seeking an experienced Milling Estimator to join our growing asphalt and roadway construction team in West Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asphalt milling, roadway construction, and DOT projects with the ability to prepare accurate, competitive bids while working closely with operations and project management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complete and accurate cost estimates for asphalt milling and roadway rehabilitation projects.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for milling, paving, grading, and related work.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Develop labor, equipment, and material cost estimates.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits when necessary.
- Coordinate with project managers and field operations to ensure successful project handoff.
- Meet bid deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in asphalt milling, paving, roadway, or heavy civil construction.
- Experience bidding DOT, municipal, county, or private roadway projects preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Knowledge of milling operations, asphalt paving, grading, and roadway construction practices.
- Experience with estimating software such as Bid2Win
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Experience
- South Carolina DOT (SCDOT) estimating experience.
- Knowledge of production rates for milling and paving operations.
- Understanding of equipment costs, labor productivity, and material pricing.
- Experience estimating projects ranging from small municipal work to multi-million-dollar highway contracts.

Pay: $54,677.36 - $65,848.01 per year
