The Brookline Center seeks a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with strong clinical skills to care for patients in the outpatient clinic setting and collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members. The position includes diagnostic evaluations, short- and long-term psychopharmacology services, and the option for psychotherapy. Care is delivered in our outpatient offices in Brookline, MA and well as via telehealth. All providers at the Brookline Center work in collaboration with colleagues and clinicians in a multi-disciplinary setting.
This is a fee for service position that could be negotiated as part or full time. A benefitted fee for service model is available. At least one evening per week until close (7pm) is required.
The Center believes that psychiatric care is a vital service in partnership with outpatient therapy and community support for clients with all levels of need. We value access to care and equitable treatment.
The Center offers dedicated time for multidisciplinary collaboration, weekly supervision with senior providers, opportunity to collaborate with and learn from peers within the psychiatry team and strong community partnerships to support the Center’s clinicians and clients.
Key responsibilities:
- Diagnostic assessments to evaluate patients' psychiatric and medical needs
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications in collaboration with Center physicians who are available for supervision
- Provide psycho-education, counseling, health promotion and preventive services
- Communicate as appropriate with patients’ relatives, collateral contacts, and fellow professionals in the community to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Provide physical health screening and primary health care monitoring (e.g. weight, blood pressure) when appropriate
- Provide clinical consultation to peers and other clinicians working within the Brookline Center team
- Provide clear and thorough documentation, in a timely manner, and in accordance with the Center’s policies.
- Participates in the Center’s on call service rotation 2-3 times per year, (requirement of Benefitted Fee for Service Providers).
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited educational institution is required
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) certification is required
- Hold a valid DEA and MCSR
- Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in good standing
- One-year post-degree inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatric nursing experience preferred
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Experience with specialized patient populations (pediatric, geriatric, substance abuse disorders) is is highly desirable
- Experience with severe mental illness (SMI) patients is highly desirable
- Ability to document in an electronic medical record system
- Ability to provide psychiatric care via telehealth
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated commitment to serving in a community setting and working with historically underserved populations
Hours and Location:
The Center’s Operating Hours include: M-Th 8am-7:15pm, F 8am-5pm, (most) Saturdays 8:30-12:30pm

Work Location: Hybrid
The position is based in our outpatient office in Brookline and includes both virtual and in-person services.
