POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Substance Use Treatment Coordinator (YTC) is a full-time position within the children’s division, dedicated to developing, implementing, and overseeing evidence-based services for youth (up to age 26) with or at risk of substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role involves community outreach, training, service coordination, and collaboration with internal staff and external agencies to improve access to care.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Experience working with youth with substance use and mental health disorders. Knowledge of evidence-based treatment and prevention strategies.
SKILL SETS: Good computer skills, superior oral and written communication skills, articulate, trustworthy and decisive. Other skill sets include but are not limited to highly organized, good anticipatory planning, conflict resolution and analytical skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must have sufficient visual acuity to read a variety of written reports and documents; hearing needed sufficiently to understand spoken communications by phone and face-to-face with many staff, consumers, and external sources
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Develop and maintain youth-focused substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery programs.

Lead community outreach and education to increase awareness and connect youth and families to services.

Provide training and technical assistance to behavioral health staff and community partners.

Collaborate with schools, courts, DCBS, and community organizations to enhance service access.

Conduct needs assessments and data collection to improve program effectiveness.

Attend 75% of DBHDID and YTC peer meetings for continued learning and practice sharing.

Ensure coordination between mental health and substance use treatment programs within the agency.

Develop and implement screening, assessment, and referral protocols for at-risk youth.

Assist in the development and submission of updated training plans and reports annually.

Conduct annual needs assessments to evaluate the prevalence of youth substance use in the CMHC region.

Update and maintain data on client and clinician participation in AKTOS and KTOS to assess service effectiveness.

Submit updated reports and training plans annually to ensure data-driven improvements in service delivery.
