The paraprofessional/instructional assistant position provides student assistance and guidance for online and in-person classes. They work closely with staff and students to supervise and maintain orderly operations for the school. They work closely with the instructional team to provide high quality services and alternative or additional support for teaching and learning. Other duties include one-onone or small group tutoring, providing assistance to students who have alternative or additional needs, serving as an additional support in the classroom alongside teachers, monitors testing, participating in recruitment opportunities, and providing small group or individual testing opportunities for students. This position will also serve as a substitute for teachers, drop-in center attendants, and some office staff when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the educational instruction of students enrolled in The Excel Center, including but not limited to persons with disabilities and other special needs. This duty is performed daily, about 70% of the time.

Create and maintain documentation on services provided. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

Serve as a substitute in classrooms, the drop-in center, and office when needed. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1-2 years in an instructional environment/
Experience teaching in a high-needs community; ie: homeless, persons with disabilities, underemployed, unemployed, previously incarcerated, etc.
Experience working with and teaching adult learners in a post-secondary environment.
