The Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance department with routine preventative maintenance tasks, basic facility repairs, equipment support, and general upkeep of the facility. This part-time role assists in maintaining safe, clean, and efficient operations while following all company safety and food safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics with day-to-day maintenance operations and functions.
- Support production operations by assisting in maintaining and repairing plant equipment.
- Learn and safely utilize various hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Monitor and assist in adjusting pieces of equipment as directed.
- Learn the functions and operation of plant machinery, systems, and equipment.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks, daily maintenance checklists, and basic facility upkeep.
- Complete work orders, shift logbooks, and daily checklists accurately and consistently.
- Begin utilizing the UpKeep CMMS system for work orders, asset tracking, and maintenance documentation.
- Assist in creating and updating equipment assets throughout the facility.
- Support maintenance parts inventory by assisting with logging and organizing parts.
- Learn basic electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and other plant power systems.
- Assist with general cleaning and organization of maintenance shop and work areas.
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts safely following training and company procedures.
- Demonstrate reliability in attendance and adherence to all personnel policies outlined in the company handbook.

- Work responsibly with limited direct supervision while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation, and teamwork with production operators and fellow employees.
- Treat production employees as internal customers and respond professionally to operational needs.
- Adhere to all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SQF requirements, safety standards, and company policies at all times.
- Maintain flexibility to work varying schedules, overtime, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
