Dental Assistant – General Dentistry
Alpine Family Dental | Kalispell, MT
Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Alpine Family Dental is looking for a dependable, personable, and motivated Dental Assistant to join our team.
We are a busy, growing general dental practice and are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, stays a step ahead, and takes pride in helping the day run smoothly.
Previous dental assisting experience is strongly preferred. However, we are open to training the right person who has experience working in a small healthcare practice and is comfortable working directly with patients.
If you already have dental experience, great. If your background is in another area of healthcare and you have the right work ethic, personality, and willingness to learn, we'd still like to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Assisting our doctors with a variety of general dental procedures
- Preparing treatment rooms and setting up for procedures
- Sterilizing instruments and maintaining proper infection-control protocols
- Taking and maintaining accurate patient records and dental histories
- Helping keep patients comfortable throughout their appointments
- Taking dental X-rays once properly trained and certified
- Keeping treatment rooms clean, stocked, and organized
- Supporting patient flow throughout the day
- Helping the hygiene team when needed
- Providing patients with post-op instructions and oral hygiene education
- Occasionally helping the front office with phones, scheduling, or patient needs when needed
Who We're Looking For:
A great assistant isn't just someone who knows how to pass instruments. We're looking for someone who pays attention, learns quickly, and starts to anticipate what the doctor and patient will need next.
You should be someone who:
- Is dependable and shows up on time ready to work
- Is comfortable working closely with patients
- Has a warm, professional personality
- Pays attention to details
- Stays organized even when the day gets busy
- Takes initiative instead of always waiting to be told what to do
- Is willing to learn and takes feedback well
- Can move at a good pace while still doing things correctly
- Works well with different personalities
- Is willing to jump in and help the team when needed
- Can have a sense of humor and enjoy the people you work with
Experience Preferred:
- Previous dental assisting experience
- Experience with dental X-rays
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
- Experience with dental practice management software
For candidates without dental assisting experience:
We are willing to train the right person who has previous experience working in a small healthcare practice. We're looking for someone who already understands patient care, professionalism, confidentiality, working as part of a healthcare team, and the importance of staying organized and dependable.
Requirements:
- BLS certification or ability to obtain
- Montana radiologic proficiency requirements must be met before independently taking dental X-rays
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Available to work 4 days per week
How to Apply:
Please submit your resume along with a short cover letter telling us a little about yourself, your previous experience, and why you're interested in dental assisting.
If you have dental experience, we'd love to hear about it. If you're coming from another healthcare setting, tell us a little about what you've done and why you're interested in making the move into dentistry.
We're looking for someone who wants to become a long-term part of our team, takes pride in their work, and genuinely enjoys taking care of people.
