At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Patient Access team is the first point of contact for patients and families. We’re seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Access Representative to ensure accurate registration, insurance verification, and a smooth intake experience.
What You’ll Do
- Interview and register patients while ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital policies
- Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and secure pre-certifications
- Accurately enter demographic and financial data into the system
- Collect copays, deductibles, deposits, and payments for services
- Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations during patient registration
- Scan and maintain required documentation (insurance cards, IDs, etc.)
- Assist patients with financial forms and payment arrangements
- Coordinate patient placement and room assignments with clinical teams
- Maintain detailed documentation and account notes for follow-up
- Provide professional, courteous service to patients, families, and staff
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or related field
- Knowledge of patient registration, insurance verification, and payor systems
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Computer proficiency and attention to detail
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain LA City Fire Card and MOAB certification within 30 days
Preferred
- Experience in hospital admissions or physician office setting
- Coursework or certification in medical terminology or patient accounting
