Structural Steel Stair Erection Foreman
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Stair Erection Foreman to lead installation crews on commercial construction projects throughout the United States. This position is responsible for safely managing the installation of steel stairs, handrails, guardrails, and miscellaneous metals while maintaining high-quality workmanship, production schedules, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong construction knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise installation crews on commercial construction projects.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and installation details.
- Coordinate daily work activities with general contractors, project managers, and jobsite personnel.
- Install steel stairs, handrails, guardrails, and miscellaneous metals according to company standards and project specifications.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Train and mentor field employees in proper installation techniques and safety procedures.
- Enforce all OSHA and company safety policies.
- Verify measurements and field conditions before installation.
- Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, telehandlers, and other construction equipment as needed.
- Perform field modifications including cutting, fitting, welding, grinding, drilling, and bolting.
- Maintain quality control throughout every phase of installation.
- Communicate project progress, material needs, and potential issues with the office and project management team.
- Maintain company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial steel erection & miscellaneous metals installation experience.
- Previous experience supervising field crews.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Strong knowledge of stair and railing installation.
- Experience with field welding (MIG, Stick, and/or TIG preferred).
- Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions in the field.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Climb ladders, stairs, and work from aerial lifts and scaffolding.
- Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and work overhead.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work at heights while using proper fall protection.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Certified welder.
- Forklift and aerial lift certifications.
- Experience installing ADA handrails and commercial stair systems.
- Experience leading crews on large commercial projects such as schools, hospitals, theaters, office buildings, and retail developments.
Travel Requirements
- Travel is required approximately 50% of the time.
- Overnight travel is expected.

Pay: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour
