Under the general supervision of the school principal, the Elementary School Teacher plans, organizes, and delivers instruction designed to support the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of elementary students.
The teacher creates a safe, structured, flexible, and engaging learning environment that is responsive to students’ individual abilities, needs, and interests and is aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and district curriculum expectations.

Plans and delivers high-quality instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and district-approved curriculum.

Provides engaging learning experiences across assigned elementary content areas.

Develops and uses instructional materials, technology, and resources appropriate for students with a wide range of academic, physical, social, emotional, and developmental needs.

Provides whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction as appropriate.

Differentiates instruction based on student readiness, achievement data, learning needs, and interests.

Helps students develop the academic skills, independence, routines, and behaviors necessary for success in school.

Establishes and maintains a safe, respectful, structured, and supportive classroom environment.

Implements effective classroom-management practices that promote student engagement, responsibility, and positive behavior.

Evaluates and monitors students’ academic, social, and developmental growth using formal and informal assessments.

Uses student-performance data to plan instruction and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment.

Maintains accurate records of student attendance, grades, progress, assessments, and other required documentation.

Provides timely and meaningful feedback to students.

Communicates regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, achievement, and behavior.

Conducts parent conferences and explains instructional programs, expectations, and student progress.

Identifies student needs and collaborates with administrators, counselors, exceptional children staff, instructional support personnel, and other professionals to provide appropriate assistance.

Implements required accommodations, modifications, intervention plans, Individualized Education Programs, Section 504 Plans, and other student support plans.

Creates and maintains an effective learning environment through appropriate classroom organization, displays, learning centers, and instructional resources.

Collaborates with colleagues to plan instruction, analyze data, and improve student outcomes.

Participates in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, professional development, school improvement activities, and district initiatives.

Selects, uses, and maintains appropriate instructional materials, supplies, technology, and equipment.

Supervises students during classroom instruction, transitions, arrival, dismissal, meals, recess, assemblies, field trips, and other assigned activities.

Participates in school and district committees and supports student activities as assigned.

Maintains professional competence, confidentiality, and conduct in accordance with district policies and professional standards.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Valid or eligible for a North Carolina teaching license appropriate for the assigned elementary grade level.

Successful completion of all required background checks.

Elementary teaching experience preferred.

Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and effective elementary instructional practices.

Knowledge of child development, differentiated instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.

Ability to plan and deliver effective instruction.

Ability to manage instructional time and maintain a positive classroom environment.

Ability to manage student behavior consistently and appropriately.

Ability to monitor student performance and use data to adjust instruction.
