Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and relationship-driven Estimator / Account Manager to support our multifamily and commercial projects involving stone countertops, cabinetry, and millwork. This role is responsible for preparing accurate bids while also serving as a key point of contact for clients—helping develop new business, maintain relationships, and ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction through project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quantity Takeoffs & Bid Preparation:
- Perform detailed takeoffs from architectural drawings and specifications for countertops, cabinets, and millwork.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates including material, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
- Develop and submit proposals and bid packages on time.
2. Client & Account Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, and repeat clients.
- Serve as a primary point of contact during the bidding phase and early project stages.
- Proactively follow up on bids and help convert opportunities into awarded work.
3. Vendor & Material Coordination:
- Solicit and review pricing from suppliers, fabricators, and subcontractors.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing and reliability.
4. Plan Review & Scope Development:
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify scope requirements and potential gaps.
- Clarify scope details with general contractors and project stakeholders as needed.
5. Cost Analysis & Value Engineering:
- Identify opportunities to improve project cost efficiency while maintaining quality.
- Provide alternate pricing and recommendations when applicable.
6. Collaboration with Project Teams:
- Work closely with project managers to ensure smooth transition from estimating to execution.
- Lead clear handoff meetings with detailed scope documentation.
7. Bid Tracking & Pipeline Management:
- Maintain organized records of bids, takeoffs, and client communications.
- Track opportunities, awarded projects, and pipeline activity.
Qualifications:
- Experience in construction estimating, preferably in cabinetry, stone, or millwork.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and takeoff tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
