Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small powered equipment, including lawn mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, generators, air compressors, pumps, and light construction machinery. The mechanic will play a key role in ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of small powered equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Troubleshoot and identify mechanical issues, electrical malfunctions, and fuel system problems.
- Replace or repair faulty parts, including engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment is compliant with relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Work efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure equipment availability.
- Collaborate with team members and assist with the training of less experienced staff as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and field staff.
- Stay up to date with new technology and equipment in the engine field.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience
- Proven experience as a Mechanic, preferably with small equipment.
- Strong understanding of engines and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in using tools and diagnostic equipment for small engines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on safety.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Mechanic certification or equivalent training.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on property sites.
- Comfort with bending, crouching, and working in tight spaces.
