Hiring Range: $80,299.00 - $102,387.00/Annually
Hours/Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Mon-Fri (Some evenings required)
If you're passionate about fostering communities where everyone has affordable housing, and neighborhoods thrive, the City of Durham is excited to invite you to consider the role of Affordable Housing Manager for the Housing and Neighborhood Services (HNS) Department.
This position will be nested within the Housing and Neighborhood Services – Affordable Housing Division.
An ideal candidate will have experience in the field of affordable housing and team leadership and a passion for local government.
This is an exciting time for the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department. The City’s Affordable Housing, Code Enforcement, and Human Relations teams were recently combined to create one department.
Collaboratively, the teams work together to execute the City Council's affordable housing and neighborhood services goals as we work together to build a Durham where everyone has affordable, safe, and fair housing. The department is committed to fostering an environment where everyone on the team is empowered to lead and achieve results consistent with the Council's goals and the department's work plan. - Manage Affordable Housing Work: Leads a team that is responsible for the development and implementation of the City’s affordable housing work, including development and preservation projects and programs and policy efforts.

Track our Progress: Monitors and reports progress for the affordable housing components of the department’s performance management systems, including work plans, learning and development plans, and performance measures.

Team Leadership: Supervises members of the Affordable Housing team, conducts employee performance evaluations, supports department recruitment efforts; and participates in the hiring process and onboarding for new employee.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises and monitors performance for a regular group of employees.
Knowledge of:

Affordable housing tools and strategies

Development finance, including the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)

Relevant federal, state, and local ordinances, policies, and procedures, including HUD guidelines for affordable housing and community development

Management and supervisory principles and practices
Ability to:

Organize, prioritize, and manage workload and timelines for self and others

Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff
