Roles of a Kavatender
- Prepare beverages: Mix and serve kava, house teas, botanical beverages, mocktails, coffee and other specialty drinks according to house recipes and quality standards.
- Educate customers: Explain the different beverages offered, their traditional origins, flavor profiles, expected effects, and answer questions from first-time and returning guests.
- Provide excellent customer service: Welcome guests, take orders, create a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, and build relationships with regular customers.
- Handle transactions: Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, process payments, and maintain accurate cash handling procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness: Keep the bar, preparation areas, and customer spaces clean, organized, and compliant with health and sanitation standards.
- Manage inventory: Restock supplies, monitor inventory levels, and communicate replenishment needs to management.
- Follow company policies: Adhere to health, safety, and operational guidelines while ensuring beverages are prepared consistently and responsibly.
- Foster a community atmosphere: Help create a welcoming environment by engaging with guests and supporting community events, social gatherings, or other in-house activities.
