The City of Norfolk’s Parking Division is an enterprise fund, which falls under the Department of General Services. The Parking Division operates over 19,000 public parking spaces located in 14 garages, 10 lots, and more than 500 street spaces.
The Department of General Services, Parking Division, is seeking a Parking Enforcement Officer (Meter Monitor). Parking Enforcement Officers enforce city parking and vehicle registration regulations, issue citations and facilitates the towing of vehicles, and testify in court regarding traffic violations.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
Required:
Six months of experience.
This position requires attention to detail, including the ability to interpret signage and compile data to complete citations.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:

Prefer 6 months of experience in writing citations, background in security, prior Enforcement Parking Officer, Meter Monitor, former Police Officer, or Security Officer.
