Dump Truck Fleet Manager - Trucking Boss

About the Role
BSG Delta Services LLC, a trucking company supporting Best Sand and Gravel LLC's rock quarry operations in Delta, CO, is looking for an experienced Trucking Boss to run our dump truck fleet. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll manage day-to-day trucking operations, own the P&L for the fleet, keep drivers and equipment moving efficiently, and jump behind the wheel yourself when the job calls for it. Our served market spans Delta, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Montrose, so a route runs through the heart of the Western Slope's construction and hauling activity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations for a fleet of 5 dump trucks, including scheduling, dispatch, and route planning across the Delta, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Montrose corridor
- Manage and support drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time material hauling
- Drive a dump truck as needed to cover routes, fill in for absences, or meet demand
- Own P&L responsibility for the trucking operation, managing costs and revenue to keep the fleet profitable
- Proactively seek out and secure outside contract hauling opportunities throughout the Delta, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Montrose market, beyond the quarry work. This is a key part of the role, as keeping all 5 trucks consistently busy is crucial to supporting overall operations
- Coordinate closely with the quarry to keep loads and deliveries running smoothly
- Monitor truck maintenance needs and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with DOT/CDL regulations and company safety standards
- Use knowledge of the Delta, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Montrose hauling market to plan efficient routes and identify hauling opportunities
Requirements
- Valid CDL, with 5-6 years of CDL driving experience required
- Extensive hands-on experience operating and managing dump trucks (5-6 years needed)
- Proven experience supervising or managing a small trucking fleet
- Strong working knowledge of the Delta, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Montrose trucking and hauling market
- Clean driving record; must be able to pass the pre-employment process, including an MVR check, drug screening, and a DOT physical to obtain a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements for commercial trucking operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to drive personally when needed, in addition to management duties
- Business development mindset, with the ability to build relationships and line up outside hauling contracts across our served region
Pay: $36.50 per hour
