Job Summary
City Fleet Services is hiring a dependable and experienced Mobile Fleet Technician to provide professional maintenance and repair services at customer locations throughout Greater Tampa Bay Area.
In this position, you will travel to customer sites in a company-provided service vehicle to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair fleet vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate can work independently, communicate professionally with customers, manage service documentation, and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations to perform mobile fleet maintenance and repairs.
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, starting, charging, braking, cooling, steering, suspension, and fuel-system concerns.
- Complete preventive maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and multipoint inspections.
- Repair and maintain gasoline and diesel vehicles / light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Perform brake, battery, alternator, starter, belt, hose, lighting, and minor electrical repairs.
- Use scan tools and diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults accurately.
- Conduct Department of Transportation inspections when properly qualified and authorized.
- Identify unsafe conditions and recommend necessary or upcoming repairs.
- Communicate findings, repair needs, estimated completion times, and service updates clearly.
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, parts records, photographs, and other service documentation accurately.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, fluids, and commonly used parts.
- Keep the assigned mobile service vehicle clean, stocked, and ready for daily work.
- Follow company procedures and all applicable workplace, environmental, and roadside safety requirements.
- Properly handle and dispose of oil, fluids, filters, batteries, and other regulated materials.
- Protect customer vehicles, equipment, property, and confidential information.
- Participate in emergency, after-hours, or on-call service when scheduled.
- Perform other fleet maintenance duties as assigned.

- Notify management promptly about delays, safety concerns, additional repair needs, or customer issues.
- Represent City Fleet Services professionally at every customer location.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of professional automotive, diesel, truck, equipment, or fleet maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to legally operate the class of service vehicle assigned to the position.
- Must provide employment history that demonstrates reliability and relevant hands-on mechanical experience.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle lifts or jacking equipment safely.
- Basic ability to read wiring diagrams, service information, maintenance schedules, and repair procedures.
- Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for work orders, photographs, communication, and timekeeping.
- Ability to work outdoors and at customer locations in varying weather and operating conditions.
- Ability to pass any job-related background check, motor vehicle record review, drug screening, or physical assessment required by company policy or law.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of fleet, commercial vehicle, diesel, or mobile repair experience.
- Technical school or vocational training in automotive or diesel technology.
- ASE certifications or equivalent industry credentials.
- Current DOT inspector qualification.
- Commercial Driver’s License, if applicable to the vehicles serviced or operated.
- Experience with light-, medium-, or heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
- Experience with diesel engines and aftertreatment systems.
- Experience using computerized diagnostic platforms and fleet-management software.
- Welding, fabrication, hydraulic, trailer, or equipment-repair experience.
- Previous experience working independently from a mobile service vehicle.
- Experience communicating directly with fleet managers, drivers, and commercial customers.

Physical and Working Requirements
This position may require the employee to:
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work underneath vehicles.
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- Use tools requiring manual dexterity and repetitive hand movements.
- Work around moving vehicles, machinery, chemicals, oils, fuels, noise, dust, and exhaust.
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
- Drive between customer locations for extended periods.
- Safely enter and exit the mobile service vehicle multiple times throughout the workday.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
