American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a WI or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Emergency Department
-
12-bed unit, including triage, with occasional use of hallway beds
-
Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center within a 69-bed hospital
-
Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics with a variety of illnesses, majority adults
-
Patient ratios typically 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6 based on acuity
-
Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 1900-0730, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call or call-back requirements
-
No floating required
-
Utilizes Epic EMR, GE monitors, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis system
-
Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
-
Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
-
Skilled in general ED procedures including chest tubes, IV starts, drips, phlebotomy, EKGs, and cardiac rhythm interpretation

Epic EMR experience required

At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

ED RNs perform bedside phlebotomy as there is no dedicated phlebotomy team
-
Support staff includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), a Resource/Lead RN, and 24/7 in-house Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage

No titled Charge RN role in the department

No dedicated tele tech; RNs monitor bedside and nursing station telemetry
-
Orientation consists of one shift on the unit to learn workflow

Holiday coverage expectations vary based on departmental need

Scrub color is not restricted

Free onsite parking is provided

Time off requests can typically be approved, though staffing needs will be considered

Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions

First-time travelers may be considered upon review

Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months to be eligible for this assignment
