Shepherd King Preschool follows a school year calendar from September - June and offers paid snow days. Our operating hours are from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Director Qualifications:
Must meet all State of Michigan licensing requirements for a director and lead teacher.
Have an Associate's Degree, CDA or higher in the field of Early Childhood with transcripts.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Strong oral and communication skills.
Meet all the demands of State Licensing.
Work with staff in creation of classroom lesson plans.
Maintain all appropriate records, daily notes and child portfolios with staff.
Conduct parent/teacher conferences twice/year. The director of Shepherd King Preschool makes the day to day decisions for operation and is the main interface for parents, students and staff. The director reports to the SKP board.
Maintain CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certificate.
Keep a current physical and TB test.
Pass a comprehensive background check with FBI fingerprints as to the state amended changes to PA 116.
Acquire 16 hours of continuing education hours throughout the school year.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitor the safety of children at all times.
Maintain a safe, clean, sanitized preschool environment.
Work with the Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Pastor and the Preschool Board as needed.
Attend meetings and or functions to promote our preschool.
Flexibility - Additional paid time for occasional evening activities, special events or summer camps.
Additional responsibilities of the director include:
- Preschool inquiries, Parent questions and tours
- Paperwork for Students, Staff and Licensing
- Yearly staff contracts and job descriptions
- Establish and maintain policies and communicate them to staff and parents
- Tuition billing
- Licensing and staying up to date on new licensing rules and regulations
- Maintain staff to child ratios as set by the state of Michigan
- Establish budget and set fees for program
- Keep accurate records essential for the control and evaluation of the program
- Employee scheduling, including substitutes and time-off requests
- Assist staff in resolving conflicts between children or other staff members
- Attendance of monthly board meetings and church council meetings
- Marketing
- Employee year end reviews
- Hire and train new employees
- Beginning of the school year: Updating parent handbook, staff handbook, welcome packets, school calendar, scheduling and running of the parent meeting
- Ensure facility is maintained and cleaned according to state regulations
- Develop educational programs and set educational standards while assisting lead teachers with lesson planning
- Monthly Newsletter
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff
- Participation in staff meetings, preschool after hour activities and 16 hours of staff development

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
