Duties
- Lead the monthly and annual financial close process.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Present financial information to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and applicable federal regulations.
- Assist with grant reporting, Form 990 preparation, UDS reporting, and Medicare/Medicaid cost reports (experience preferred but not required).
- Help strengthen internal controls and continuously improve accounting processes.
- Manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) reporting requirements.
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and compliance with internal controls.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, including bank reconciliations and accrual accounting practices.
- Provide financial analysis, cash flow analysis, budgeting assistance, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field: CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience preparing financial statements
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience leading month-end close
- Excellent Excel and financial reporting skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Excellent in creating financial report analysis, forecasting, budget management, and financial management strategies.
- Familiarity with tax regulations related to nonprofit organizations or private entities is advantageous.
Preferred
- CPA certification
- Healthcare or nonprofit accounting experience
- Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
- Grant accounting experience
- Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting
- Form 990 experience
- Experience with HRSA reporting requirements
