About the Position
We are a family-owned underground utility company looking for a motivated and dependable Shop Mechanic Level 1 to join our team. This is an entry-level position for someone with basic mechanical experience who is interested in developing their skills while helping maintain our fleet of vehicles, trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.
The Shop Mechanic Level 1 will assist with routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to help keep our equipment safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Perform oil changes, lubrication, tire changes and rotations, brake inspections, battery service, and other basic maintenance.
- Assist with diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Perform inspections to identify potential mechanical problems before they become major repairs.
- Assist with keeping shop tools, equipment, parts, and work areas clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
- Test-drive vehicles or operate equipment after repairs when authorized to verify proper operation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a mechanic, automotive technician, equipment technician, or in a similar position.
- Basic understanding of automotive and mechanical systems.
- Basic knowledge of engines, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance.
- Ability and willingness to learn advanced diagnostic and repair skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with experienced mechanics and other team members.
- Ability to work independently when assigned routine maintenance tasks.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
