Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience working in a small animal veterinary hospital. The Veterinary Assistant will be responsible for supporting the veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our patients, while also assisting with daily operations and maintaining a clean and organized facility.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and treatments.
- Provide exceptional patient care, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments, including medication administration and lab results.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely, as necessary.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient health or behavior.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility, including the hospital area, kennels, and reception area.
- Assist with laboratory procedures, including catheterization and blood draws.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting strongly preferred
- Experience with dental x-rays and prophylaxis strongly preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy and physiology.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Certification or training in veterinary assisting or a related field is preferred.
- Fear Free Certification highly desired.
- A passion for helping animals and a commitment to their well-being.
- Full time availability with a rotating Saturday shift required

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
