American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics unit position requiring 2+ years of ortho/trauma nursing experience and EPIC EMR proficiency.
-
Work in the Orthopedics unit of a hospital setting
-
Care for pre-op and post-op orthopedic patients, including elective and trauma cases
-
Specializes in total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs, as well as ortho trauma
-
Utilizes Safe Patient Handling equipment and ortho-specific equipment including CPM, knee immobilizer, and bone foam
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with possible stretch to 1:7
-
EPIC EMR experience required
-
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
Every other weekend (EOW) work required
-
One holiday and one holiday-eve shift required during the holiday period
-
No on-call responsibilities

Utilizes Rapid Response Teams
-
Floating to any campus within the health system may be required
-
Active RN license (NC or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
-
BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
-
Orthopedic and trauma nursing experience required
-
EPIC charting system experience required
-
Prior charge nurse experience preferred
-
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
-
Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
-
Prior travel nursing experience required
-
Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during compliance (two attempts allowed)

Current driver's license required for address verification
-
Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care for orthopedic patients, including total joint replacements and trauma cases

Utilize peripheral nerve block catheters and other ortho-specific care techniques
-
Work within a supportive care team that includes Rapid Response resources
-
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted

First-time travelers are not considered for this position

RTO must be submitted with the initial application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
