Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive MA/Surgery Coordinator (Bilingual) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate pre-operative assessments with patients and medical teams
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorization, and handle billing processes using systems like Athenahealth
- Review and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage documentation review, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plans to facilitate smooth billing and reimbursement processes
- Communicate effectively with patients via phone and in person, providing clear instructions and compassionate service
- Maintain accurate scheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Support clinical staff by preparing necessary documentation, managing medical records, and assisting with office management tasks
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of EMR systems including Athenahealth
- Proficiency in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing procedures, and insurance verification processes
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance standards, and health information management
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized hospital management software
- Exceptional patient service skills with professional phone etiquette and multi-line phone system experience
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Previous clinic or hospital experience with medical scheduling, intake procedures, and front desk responsibilities
